Laura & Jamie - What to expect on your big day

Let Laura and Jamie inspire you with their beautiful wedding at Bradwell Abbey. Here’s a glimpse into how they made the most of this magical, historic venue, along with some helpful tips and links from us to help you plan your own dream day! Photography by Sophie Ann photography

If you’ve chosen our Gold package, you’ll have the option to start setting up the evening before, giving you extra time to get everything just right. When the big day arrives, here’s how it will all unfold:

First to arrive (Jamie and his groom’s men in this case), will welcome your guests into the front courtyard and lead them into the ceremony barn. The second party to arrive will arrive in style at the back courtyard, before making their grand entrance into the ceremony.

The ceremony will take place in our enchanting Stone Barn, which has stood for over 800 years. Once a brewery house for the medieval monks of Bradwell Abbey, the barn still boasts its original limestone walls and oak beams. If you're lucky, our charming white dove family might make an appearance to bless your ceremony.

We can seat up to 100 guests in elegant chiavari chairs, with additional standing room at the back if needed. For that perfect romantic glow, ask us about our fairy lights and up-lighting options! Laura and Jamie opted for a beautifully lit sash arch at the end of the isle. You can browse our preferred supplier list for stylists, florists & more.

After you’ve tied the knot, it’s time for a confetti shower in the front courtyard! While you and your wedding party slip away for photos around the stunning grounds (including the historic chapel, gardens and our beautiful black barn doors, you may even bring your 4 legged friends for some memorable photos). Meanwhile, your guests can enjoy welcome drinks and mingle in the courtyards or the reception barn.

For a bit of extra fun, the back courtyard is ideal for outdoor games, while The Hovel offers space for more music, entertainment, or additional under- cover seating. By summer 2025 we will also have an additional Hovel space (ask us at your viewing!)

Once you’re ready, your guests will be invited into the reception barn to get settled. If you’ve opted for buffet-style dining, we have a dedicated space that you can use for everything from food stations to sweet carts, photo albums, or even a snack wall. If you prefer a sit-down meal, we’ll work with your chosen caterer to ensure everything is perfect - check out our recommended supplier list for the best vendors who know the venue inside and out. Laura and Jamie opted for a sit down meal with The Paella Pan.

After your meal, it's time for speeches! If you go with the Gold package, you’ll have the added sparkle of a starlight backdrop to add some magic to your top table.

Then, it’s time to get the party started! Tables and chairs will be moved aside to create your dance floor, ready for your first dance as newlyweds. There’s plenty of room for a band, DJ and even a photo booth to capture all those fun moments. You can find great ideas in our recommended suppliers list.

The drinks will be flowing from the bar until 11:00 pm, so be sure to remind everyone to arrange their taxis for midnight! (A quick heads-up: our bar is card only.)

If you’ve chosen the Gold package, you’ll have the luxury of packing up the next morning. Otherwise, we recommend having a quick chat with your wedding party beforehand to sort out who will take what home.

We can’t wait to help make your day unforgettable!
